About ConvertZen
One developer, one principle: your files stay yours
ConvertZen is built and maintained by a single independent developer. It started with a frustration shared by millions: to convert a HEIC photo or a PDF, you had to upload it to someone else's server and hope it got deleted afterwards. That model felt wrong, so I built a converter that does not need to see your file at all.
Every tool on this site — HEIC to JPG, WebP to JPG, image format conversion, images to PDF, PDF to images, Markdown to PDF — runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, Canvas and JavaScript. The file you drag in is processed by your own device, converted by your own device, and downloaded from your own browser session. There is no upload endpoint, no database, and no server-side conversion engine.
Why browser-based conversion is the privacy answer
Cloud converters have to copy your document to their infrastructure to process it. That means your contract, your medical scan, or your client's design files spend time on a machine you do not control. Local conversion removes that step entirely: what happens on your device stays on your device. That is why lawyers, doctors and small businesses are increasingly choosing tools like this one for sensitive documents.
What you get, free and without limits
- All six conversion tools, free forever — no watermark, no sign-up, no daily quota.
- No file size limits. A 2 GB PDF exports just as happily as a 200 KB one.
- Batch processing with ZIP download, drag-to-sort, live previews and remembered settings.
- Offline support: install ConvertZen as a PWA and keep converting with no internet.
How the project is funded
ConvertZen is funded by privacy-respecting advertising. Ads keep the tools free, and conversion areas never contain ads — the moment you start converting, your screen belongs to your files. A future premium tier is planned for heavy users who prefer no ads at all, but the core tools will remain free.
