Why convert Office files to PDF?

Office files are everywhere — but the people you send them to usually need a PDF. A Word report, an Excel budget or a PowerPoint deck can look different on every device, and most viewers will not touch a .docx or .xlsx. Converting to PDF locks the layout: fonts, tables, page breaks and slides stay exactly as you made them. This tool converts Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx/.xls) and PowerPoint (.pptx) to PDF right in your browser — no upload, no queue, no account.

The conversion is genuinely local. Word documents are parsed and rebuilt as styled pages with headings, lists, tables and images intact. Spreadsheets become clean, print-ready tables — pick A4 or Letter paper and portrait or landscape, and sheets keep their merged cells, column order and header emphasis. PowerPoint decks are re-rendered slide by slide at their original size, with text, tables, images and solid background colors preserved, so a 16:9 deck stays 16:9 in the PDF.

Nothing you drop here ever leaves your device. The parsing engines run in your browser and the PDF is generated on your machine — which matters for contracts, financials and internal decks. Drop several files at once and convert them all in one go, then download each PDF or grab a ZIP of everything. Free, private and unlimited, the same way every tool on ConvertZen works.

Frequently asked questions

Which Office formats are supported?

Word .docx, Excel .xlsx (plus legacy .xls) and PowerPoint .pptx. The older binary formats — .doc and .ppt — cannot be parsed in a browser because they are proprietary OLE files that need a full Office engine; if you still have them, save a copy in the modern format and convert that.

Will the PDF look exactly like my original?

Word and Excel output keeps the text, structure, tables, images and styling. PowerPoint slides keep positions, sizes, fonts, tables, images and solid backgrounds. The few things a browser cannot run — embedded charts, animations, transitions, SmartArt and complex gradients — are simplified or shown as a placeholder.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Drop multiple Word, Excel and PowerPoint files together (they can even be mixed in one batch), press Convert once, and download each PDF individually or all of them as a single ZIP.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing and PDF generation happen entirely on your device, so nothing is sent over the network — you can even disconnect after the page loads. No account, no watermark and no file size limits.

What about very large or very wide files?

Large files may take a few seconds because every page is rendered locally. Spreadsheets wider than 40 columns are trimmed to fit a print layout, and the first 800 rows and first 20 sheets are included — more than enough for almost any real document. Charts embedded inside spreadsheets are not rendered.
